Manipur Congress Chief Criticizes Centre's Neglect Amid Ongoing Unrest

Manipur Congress Chief Keisham Meghachandra Singh criticizes the BJP-led state government and the Centre for their alleged neglect and failure to provide a clear roadmap to resolve the ongoing violence in Manipur. The opposition urges Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene as violence continues between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities.

Manipur Congress Chief Keisham Meghachandra Singh on Monday lambasted the BJP-led state government and Centre for alleged negligence and ignorance in addressing the ongoing turmoil in the state.

Speaking to ANI, Singh said, "Despite repeated appeals from the INDIA bloc, the ruling party has failed to provide a clear roadmap to restore peace in Manipur." He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting the violence-hit region in the past 15 months, despite urgent calls for intervention.

Singh stated, "The Central government's inaction and silence reflect their disregard for the state. Even BJP's own MLAs question Manipur's status within India. This crisis shouldn't be reduced to a mere state conflict; it demands national concern."

In the Vision India 2047 document, the North Eastern Council inaccurately identified the Kuki (Chin) tribe's origin, which was promptly corrected following objections. On Independence Day, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi met with Manipuri citizens in Delhi, highlighting their ongoing struggles and reiterating demands for the Prime Minister's intervention.

Violence in Manipur erupted during a rally by the All Tribal Students Union (ATSU) against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status. The state remains under heavy security cover amid intermittent violent clashes.
