Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar on Monday condemned TMC leader Udayan Guha for allegedly threatening protesters demanding justice over the Kolkata rape-murder case. 'How many hands will you break, how many fingers will you cut?' Majumdar questioned, assuring protesters that the BJP is prepared to offer legal assistance.

Majumdar pointed out that numerous individuals are calling for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure women's safety. He urged protesters not to fear, emphasizing the BJP's commitment to providing legal aid. Guha had allegedly threatened to break the fingers of those criticizing Banerjee on social media.

The rape and murder of the trainee doctor have ignited widespread protests and calls for justice. The CBI has been permitted to conduct a polygraph test on the accused. On August 18, the CBI team used 3D laser mapping at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where the trainee doctor was found dead.

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, is set to hear the case on August 20. Protests have erupted across multiple cities, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, and Lucknow, demanding justice for the victim.

In Kolkata, female police officers tied Rakhi to protesting doctors and medical students. Protests disrupted a Durand Cup match, leading to its cancellation. To maintain order, Kolkata police imposed restrictions around RG Kar Medical College from August 18 to 24.
