Massive protests and a nationwide doctors' strike have erupted in the wake of the rape-murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, coupled with allegations of a botched investigation and cover-up. The Governor visited the hospital last Thursday to speak with agitating junior doctors, assuring them that justice would be served.

Bose is expected to meet with President Murmu in Delhi on Tuesday. Earlier in Kolkata, during a Rakhi celebration at Raj Bhavan, Bose pledged solidarity with women doctors and vowed to support efforts to ensure a safer environment for women. He highlighted the deteriorating state of democracy in West Bengal and called for collective action to protect women.
