Senior Congress leader Margaret Alva on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of efforts to destabilize Karnataka's government, utilizing Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.
Alva claimed the 'Gujarat Duo' are once again manipulating political scenarios to weaken opposition governments, undeterred by past electoral setbacks. Without naming Modi and Shah, she stated, “The Gujarat Duo are at their game again, not having learnt their lesson even after the people of India voted to curtail their power.”
Governor Gehlot sanctioned an investigation against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Alva asserted that the Congress-led administration will resist these moves vigorously. Recalling the 1978 dismissal of the Devaraj Urs government, she emphasized the people's support for Siddaramaiah. The Chief Minister, denying all charges, filed a writ petition against the Governor’s order. The High Court has temporarily halted proceedings and the BJP has called for Siddaramaiah's resignation.
