On Tuesday, the BJP announced the Central Government's decision to cancel the move to fill key government posts through lateral entry, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to social justice. The BJP actively criticized the Congress, questioning whether reservation policies were followed during its tenure.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had previously issued a notification on August 17 for recruiting 45 joint secretaries, directors, and deputy secretaries through lateral entry. Following a request from the Centre, this advertisement was canceled. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized Prime Minister Modi's dedication to reinforcing BR Ambedkar's commitment to the Constitution by ensuring reservation principles are applied in such recruitments.

The opposition, represented by Congress, attributed this cancellation to a campaign led by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and the INDIA bloc. Congress asserted that the power of the Constitution had triumphed over what they termed a ''dictatorial regime.'' Union Minister Kiren Rijiju accused Congress of neglecting Adivasis, SCs, and OBCs for decades while BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi challenged the party on its historical adherence to reservation policies.
