Indonesia's parliament has delayed ratification of contentious changes to the country's elections law, as a lack of quorum forced the postponement of Thursday's scheduled vote, legislator Habiburokhman informed the press.

The new date for ratification remains uncertain. The proposed changes were intended to prevent a vocal government critic from contesting the Jakarta governor race. Additionally, they would allow President Joko Widodo's youngest son to participate in the upcoming elections in Java, set for November.
