Senior Punjab BJP leader Harjit Singh Grewal has publicly expressed his opposition to Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut's remarks on the farmers' protests, emphasizing that such statements do not reflect the party's ideology.
Grewal said he immediately contacted Union Minister and BJP president J P Nadda to convey his displeasure. Ranaut had recently suggested in an interview that a ''Bangladesh-like situation'' could have emerged during the protests if not for India's leadership, a statement that sparked controversy.
Ranaut also faced backlash from the BJP, who clarified that her views do not represent the party's stance. Regarding her film ''Emergency'', which has received a legal notice from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Grewal stated that it is up to the Censor Board to make decisions on film approval.
Additionally, Grewal criticized the Congress for allegedly honoring individuals involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, contrasting it with the BJP's commitment to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
