Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday staunchly defended his government's controversial 'bulldozer action,' calling it a brave measure. Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, however, challenged Adityanath's confidence in his approach, urging him to run for elections with a 'bulldozer' as his party symbol.
The Supreme Court on Monday stated it would set guidelines on the demolitions, highlighting that demolishing houses without due legal procedure is not permissible, even for convicts. This observation triggered a series of verbal exchanges between Adityanath and Yadav, with Adityanath likening the chaotic situation to 'man-eating wolves' and criticizing the previous SP rule.
Adityanath retorted to Yadav's accusation that the bulldozer action was unconstitutional and challenged the former chief minister's handling capabilities. Meanwhile, other political figures, including Congress chief Ajay Rai and BSP president Mayawati, condemned the bulldozer policy and praised the Supreme Court's stance.
