German Chancellor Congratulates New French PM Michel Barnier

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated Michel Barnier on his recent appointment as the Prime Minister of France. Scholz emphasized the special relationship between Germany and France and expressed hope for continued cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of Europe.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday congratulated Michel Barnier on his appointment as prime minister of France.

In a letter to Barnier, Scholz wrote, "Our two countries are connected in a very special way—two strong partners in the heart of Europe."

Scholz said he looked forward to their governments continuing to work together for the benefit of both countries and Europe.
