Following Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot's approval of a prosecution order against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, BJP leaders have called for his resignation. The controversy has fueled speculation over the CM post, with multiple Congress leaders expressing interest.

BJP leader R Ashoka noted that Congress figures are more confident than BJP members that Siddaramaiah will step down, leading to an intra-party race for the Chief Ministership. Ashoka stated, 'More than BJP, Congress leaders are confident that Siddaramaiah will resign. A race is ongoing, and everybody is jockeying for the CM position. Meanwhile, development in Karnataka is stalled.'

Karnataka BJP MLC CT Ravi echoed similar sentiments, asserting that many Congress members believe Siddaramaiah will be replaced. 'Congress leaders are convinced CM Siddaramaiah will be removed and are staking their claims for the position,' Ravi stated.

BJP's CN Ashwath Narayan challenged the Congress to uphold constitutional values by removing Siddaramaiah amidst corruption allegations. 'The Congress should respect the Constitution, democracy, and law by taking action against Siddaramaiah,' Narayan said, emphasizing the internal strife within Congress as leaders vie for the top State position.

On August 31, the Governor's office informed the Karnataka High Court that the decision to prosecute Siddaramaiah followed thorough deliberation. The same day witnessed 'Raj Bhavan Chalo,' a protest organized by Congress leaders and legislators accusing the Governor of partiality, alleging delayed decisions on other outstanding cases.

The protestors also demanded the prosecution of Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy over a mining lease case. Governor Gehlot sanctioned the prosecution in connection with a land allotment by MUDA to Siddaramaiah's wife, thereby intensifying the political upheaval in the state.
