Cyprus and US Forge Stronger Defense Ties Amid Escalating Regional Challenges

Cyprus and the United States have formalized a defense cooperation framework to improve their joint response to regional humanitarian crises and security challenges, notably those related to climate change.
Defense Minister Vassilis Palmas of Cyprus and US Assistant Secretary of Defence Celeste Wallander have celebrated the agreement as a crucial development in Cypriot-US relations, following the 2022 lifting of the US arms embargo on Cyprus.
Wallander highlighted Cyprus's strategic role in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, and praised its actions in aiding American civilians and facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza.
