Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gaurav Bhatia on Friday took a swipe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, labeling him as the 'bail wala' CM following the Supreme Court's decision to grant him bail in a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Bhatia remarked, "The Supreme Court has once again shown a mirror to 'kattar beimaan' AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal. He has obtained conditional bail. The 'jail wala' CM is now a 'bail wala' CM." Bhatia further criticized Kejriwal for his previous statements about politicians resigning over allegations, stressing that Kejriwal, lacking morality, refuses to step down despite facing serious accusations.
"It is paramount that Arvind Kejriwal resigns as per the wishes of Delhi's people. He once claimed that politicians should resign when under suspicion. Now, despite being out on bail after a six-month jail stint, he clings to power. The 'bhrashtrachaar yukt, CM abhiyukt' remains in the accused category," the BJP leader asserted. He also condemned the AAP for celebrating the bail order, emphasizing that Kejriwal has not been acquitted.
Bhatia continued, "Arvind Kejriwal has not received relief from any court, and no charges have been dropped. The trial is ongoing. The AAP must explain why Kejriwal is not resigning. The BJP maintains zero tolerance against corruption. Eventually, the corrupt Arvind Kejriwal will bow down, and the people will demand his resignation." Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering probe related to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. On June 26, 2024, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal was taken into custody by CBI while already detained by the Enforcement Directorate in the excise case. (ANI)
