The AAP has demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah following a scathing critique by Supreme Court Justice Ujjal Bhuyan of the CBI's actions in the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Bhuyan emphasized that the investigative agency must shed its image of being a 'caged parrot'.
The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal in connection with a corruption case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, underscoring that prolonged incarceration is an unjust deprivation of liberty. Justice Bhuyan particularly questioned the timing of the arrest, implying that it aimed to frustrate the bail process in a related ED case.
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj highlighted that the apex court's remarks extended beyond the CBI, implicating the central government. At a press conference, Bharadwaj and his Cabinet colleague Atishi accused the BJP-led Centre of misusing central agencies to target AAP leaders. Atishi urged Amit Shah to resign immediately, branding the SC decision a 'slap on the face' of the Centre and the CBI.
