Germany's opposition conservatives have reached their highest nationwide poll rating in over three years, according to INSA's latest weekly survey for the Bild am Sonntag. The Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU) rose to 33%, up from 31% last week. The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) is tracking second, with 19% support.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats (SPD) are trailing at 14%, followed by coalition partners the Greens at 10% and the Free Democrats at a mere 4%. Combined, the three coalition parties would achieve only 28% of the vote, their weakest result since taking office in December 2021, reveals the poll.
