In an important political development, Atishi, the CM-designate and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, is set to take her oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi today. Ahead of the ceremony, Atishi and the proposed ministers are scheduled to meet outgoing CM Arvind Kejriwal at his residence, as confirmed by AAP representatives.

Following a meeting with Kejriwal, the group, accompanied by AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, will proceed to 'Raj Niwas' for the swearing-in event. Atishi and the other ministers will officially assume their roles today after taking their oaths at Raj Niwas.

Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Atishi as the new Chief Minister, effective from her swearing-in date. In the same breath, the President accepted Arvind Kejriwal's resignation but mentioned he will continue to act as CM until Atishi's oath-taking. The President also approved the appointment of five other ministers: Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Imran Hussain, and Mukesh Ahlawat, based on the Chief Minister’s recommendation.

Atishi, who takes on this role as the third woman CM of Delhi, has expressed mixed feelings, grateful for Kejriwal's trust yet saddened by his resignation. Speaking to the media, she emphasized her commitment to working hard to bring Kejriwal back as CM after the upcoming assembly elections. Atishi, a key figure in improving Delhi's education system, will now lead AAP into the future.

Representing the Kalkaji constituency and holding multiple portfolios in the Delhi government, Atishi joined the cabinet in March 2023 and is poised to lead AAP through the upcoming assembly polls.
