Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov highlighted the critical need for swift weapons delivery and collaborative projects with European allies during the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.
The meeting, chaired by British Defence Minister John Healey, gathers representatives from about 50 nations. This assembly, known as the Ramstein Group due to its inaugural session at the U.S. air base in Germany, was initially led by the United States following Russia's 2022 invasion.
Umerov aims to expedite air defense, aviation, and ammunition supply discussions and bolster European-produced arms and Ukrainian manufacturing. New U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, also attending, will encourage increased European defense spending. Umerov previously met with Hegseth, sharing a photo but withholding discussion specifics.
