Tensions flared in Parliament as BJP's V Muraleedharan criticized the opposition's walkout during crucial talks on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Muraleedharan argued that the opposition lacked substantial points to justify their exit, insisting that Parliament's role is rooted in discussion, not in evasion of dialogue.

Highlighting the purpose of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), Muraleedharan stated the committee was established to address concerns raised by stakeholders about the Waqf Bill. He assured that the government would review and possibly integrate the JPC's recommendations into the legislation, responding to the apprehensions flagged.

Muraleedharan also accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala of shielding those involved in misappropriating CSR funds. He lambasted the state government for not investigating allegations, suggesting it was protecting wrongdoers linked to significant public fund embezzlement.

The opposition staged a walkout accusing the JPC of bias on the Waqf Bill, claiming neglect of dissenting opinions. In response, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed openness to include dissenting notes in the official report, underlining the government's commitment to a balanced examination of the issues raised.
