The first part of India's Budget session concluded amid intense scrutiny and debates over several contentious issues. Prominent among these were the deportation of Indians from the United States, the mishap at the Maha Kumbh, and the report on the Waqf Bill.

The session commenced with President Droupadi Murmu's address and the tabling of the Union budget for the fiscal year 2025-26. Remarkably, the Lok Sabha recorded a productivity of 112 per cent. However, the much-anticipated joint committee report on the Waqf Bill, presented amid political theatrics, led to acrimonious exchanges between the opposition and treasury benches.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured that the government remains vigilant on inflation. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed concerns over deportation, reaffirming efforts to ensure humane treatment. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi responded vigorously to the opposition, particularly addressing issues related to the Congress party.
