U.S. President Donald Trump has declared his support for Russia's re-entry into the Group of Seven (G7) nations. Speaking at the White House, he stated that it was a mistake to exclude Russia from the group.

Russia was originally part of this group of industrialized democracies, known at the time as the G8, until its expulsion in 2014.

The exclusion followed Moscow's controversial annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region, which led to significant international tensions and sanctions against Russia.
