The None Of The Above (NOTA) option on India's electronic voting machines (EVMs) marked its lowest usage percentage in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, according to the Election Commission's data. Since NOTA's introduction in 2013, its presence has symbolized voter dissent, yet its popularity has dwindled over the past three general elections.

The 'Atlas-2024', a comprehensive data publication by the polls panel, highlights a steady decline in NOTA votes—from 1.08% in 2014 to a mere 0.99% in 2024. Though a seemingly minor figure, its impact is crucial in constituencies with narrow margins where it could sway the final result.

State-wise analysis reveals notable variations; Bihar recorded the highest NOTA votes at 2.07%, whereas Nagaland had the lowest at 0.21%. These discrepancies point to the complex political environments and varied levels of voter engagement across regions, offering insights into the electoral and protest behavior of India's electorate.
