Tensions escalated in the Indian Parliament as opposition members alleged their dissent notes were excluded from the Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC) report concerning the Waqf Amendment Bill. Independent MP Pappu Yadav warned of potential disruptions in the legislative process, citing the exclusion of critical issues raised by the opposition.
Yadav accused the central government of diverting attention from pressing matters such as farmer and Manipur issues. He questioned the validity and effectiveness of the JPC report without achieving a consensus, emphasizing that the removal of dissent notes undermines its credibility.
Meanwhile, BJP's Mohsin Raza criticized the opposition for avoiding discussions on the Waqf Amendment Bill, arguing their historic legislative missteps led to current land and legal issues. Despite opposition protests, the report was tabled in both Houses, causing significant uproar and leading to the adjournment of sessions.
