Fadnavis expressed confidence in Maharashtra's preparedness to incarcerate Rana immediately upon his return, citing the state's previous handling of Ajmal Kasab, one of the attack's key operatives. He credited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his pivotal role in overcoming initial American hesitations about extraditing Rana.
