Mamata Banerjee Slams BJP Over 'Mrityu Kumbh'

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has condemned the handling of the Maha Kumbh event, which she referred to as 'Mrityu Kumbh,' following fatal stampedes. She criticized the BJP for allegedly concealing the true death toll.

Numerous fatalities were reported last month in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj and New Delhi during crowded events. Banerjee accused the BJP of minimizing these figures and expressed dismay over being linked to the Muslim League, asserting her secular values.

Banerjee reiterated her commitment to secularism and challenged the BJP to provide evidence linking her to Bangladeshi extremists, stating she would resign if proven. She credited her governance for maintaining peace in West Bengal amid regional turmoil.
