European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's upcoming visit to India signifies a monumental step in reinforcing the relationship between the European Union and India. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed this development on Saturday, noting that the visit will catalyze strategic partnerships in pivotal sectors.

Scheduled for February 27 and 28, Leyen's visit, alongside the high-powered EU College of Commissioners, is at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This occasion marks the first collective visit of the EU Commissioners to India and is aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.

Highlights of this visit include delegation-level discussions between PM Modi and von der Leyen and the second ministerial meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council. This event underscores the longstanding strategic partnership that, since 2004, has continually expanded across diverse domains.
