In a significant development, seven individuals were detained by Telangana police in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district regarding the murder of 50-year-old N Rajalingamurthy. This follows his corruption complaint against former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao concerning the Kaleshwaram irrigation project.
The incident stemmed from a land dispute, resulting in Rajalingamurthy's fatal stabbing on February 19. The attack allegedly involved throwing chili powder into his eyes, followed by a vicious assault with knives and an iron rod. The accused fled the scene on motorcycles.
Investigations revealed a conspiracy involving four individuals directly involved in the murder and six others, including a former municipal vice-chairman linked to the BRS. Special police teams are in pursuit of three absconding suspects, heightening the case's political undertones.
