Former Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has claimed that only Congress can ensure peace in the politically tense Manipur. Addressing a gathering in Konthoujam, Singh criticized the BJP-led state government, stating that despite their majority, they have been ineffective in maintaining peace and harmony.

Singh argued that the Congress is necessary to form a stable government, suggesting that the BJP and its allies, despite having over 50 MLAs, have failed to govern effectively. He accused the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being passive observers of the state's problems.

The Congress leader further alleged that the BJP has manipulated constitutional ideals and failed to act on the ethnic conflicts in Manipur. Despite the resignation of the former CM N Biren Singh, the BJP has not taken decisive action, which he views as contradicting India's democratic principles.
