A Russian delegation arrived in Istanbul on Thursday for diplomatic talks at the U.S. consul general's residence, aiming to resolve ongoing disputes over embassy operations in Washington and Moscow.
The discussions are notably narrow in scope, intentionally excluding contentious issues like Ukraine or broader political matters. Instead, they are seen as a critical test of Russia's intent to rebuild its diplomatic relationship with the U.S.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized the focus on creating better conditions for diplomats, suggesting this meeting is crucial to assess Moscow's commitment to resolving diplomatic tensions effectively and swiftly.
