Candidates from the ruling Congress party and its ally CPI submitted their nominations on Monday for the upcoming Telangana Legislative Council elections under the MLA quota.
The filing occurred in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, along with his cabinet colleagues and leaders from both Congress and CPI, marking the occasion as strategical alliances come into focus.
This election aims to fill five vacancies due to the retirement of four BRS MLCs and one from AIMIM, with voting scheduled for March 20. In a strategic move, Congress announced Vijayashanthi, Dayakar, and Shankar Naik as their candidates, while CPI's candidate is Nellikanti Satyam. Based on their Assembly strength, the Congress is expected to secure four seats, leaving one for BRS, which nominated Sravan Dasoju.
