In the midst of a heated debate on the National Education Policy's three-language directive, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Saumitra Khan emphasized that the central government is committed to promoting all languages equally. He highlighted the fact that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, 16 languages can be used in Parliament without prior notice, and central government exams can be written in regional languages.

Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy expressed her support for the policy, underscoring the benefits of multilingual education. Drawing from her personal experience, she revealed her fluency in 7-8 languages and emphasized the educational advantages for children. Her stance resonates with Union Education Minister's defense against opposition claims that the government is attempting to divide society through language policies.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman criticized the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for opposing the three-language policy, accusing them of causing political turmoil in Tamil Nadu and depriving children of diverse learning opportunities. The ongoing debate highlights the need for a nuanced discussion on multilingualism and educational policy.
