Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his gratitude to the people of Mizoram after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a significant victory in the recent village council elections within the Chakma Autonomous District Council. This success, reportedly influenced by the support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw the BJP clinch 64 out of 88 village councils, marking a substantial political gain in the region.
According to the election results, the BJP managed to win a total of 366 seats, with 304 designated as general and 62 as reserved, out of 516 available. Shah extended his congratulations to BJP's Mizoram workers, emphasizing the role of Modi's developmental policies in this electoral outcome. His appreciation was shared through a post on the social platform 'X'.
The political spotlight in Mizoram continues as Chief Minister Lalduhoma met with Amit Shah on Thursday, ahead of Shah's scheduled visit to the state on March 15. During his visit, Shah will participate in the relocation ceremony of Assam Rifles from Aizawl to Zokhawsang and is expected to engage with local party members.
