Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended a ceasefire proposal to U.S. President Donald Trump concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the Kremlin announced on Friday.
The announcement followed late-night meetings between Putin and Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy, in Moscow. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov characterized the discussions as cautiously optimistic.
Peskov noted that while Putin shares overarching solidarity with Trump on the Ukrainian issue, extensive work remains to achieve a viable peace agreement.
