Macron Challenges Trump's Tariff Strategy

French President Emmanuel Macron advised U.S. President Donald Trump against implementing tariff proposals, as they could disrupt economies, inflate costs, and destroy jobs. This discussion followed a Paris meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, attended by approximately 30 leaders to support Kyiv's peace efforts with Russia.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his disapproval of U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed tariffs, warning that such measures could harm both U.S. and European economies.

Macron highlighted that imposing tariffs can disrupt value chains, create short-term inflationary effects, and lead to job losses on both sides of the Atlantic.

The comments came after a pivotal meeting in Paris, where around 30 world leaders gathered with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to explore how they might assist Kyiv in the event of a peace deal with Russia.
