On Friday, chaos erupted in the West Bengal Assembly as BJP MLAs staged a dramatic walkout. The conflict arose during a spirited debate on the Netaji Subhas University of Sports and Entrepreneurship Bill, 2025, introduced by Education Minister Bratya Basu.
Tensions heightened when BJP Chief Whip Shankar Ghosh attempted to speak, but was interrupted by Minister Babul Supriyo. Supriyo questioned why the BJP should be allowed to speak after they had walked out during a previous session's reply by state minister Chandrima Bhattacharya.
Despite Speaker Biman Banerjee allowing Ghosh to continue his speech, the discord persisted, leading to the walkout of around 15-20 BJP MLAs. The incident highlighted the ongoing tensions between the ruling TMC and opposition BJP in the West Bengal Assembly.
