Race for Leadership: Patidar and Koli Communities Vie for Gujarat Congress Chief Position

Patidar and Koli leaders in Gujarat are lobbying for their communities to secure the Congress state unit presidency, following Shaktisinh Gohil's resignation. Both groups held meetings to strategize, aiming to boost support within their communities by filing their members in this key leadership role.

The leadership tussle within the Gujarat Congress has intensified as Patidar and Koli communities push for representation at the top. Following Shaktisinh Gohil's resignation, both communities are vying for the state unit president position.

Koli leader Vimal Chudasama met with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, advocating for a Koli leader's appointment, citing a large community base. Simultaneously, Patidar leaders gathered to discuss leveraging the position to regain community support.

Both groups believe that appointing community members as state unit chief would strengthen the party's influence in Gujarat, crucially ahead of future electoral challenges.
