Opposition Calls for Electoral Reforms to Break Parliamentary Standoff

Despite the Opposition's proposition, government sources indicate reluctance towards accommodating such a debate. Speaking in Lok Sabha, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju maintained the stance that rules prohibit discussions on sub-judice matters, particularly involving autonomous bodies like the Election Commission.

Congress leaders pointed to historical debates within Parliament as precedents for such discussions, urging government engagement to facilitate uninterrupted parliamentary proceedings. The deadlock persists, reducing legislative productivity since the session's start on July 21.
