Congress leader KC Venugopal launched a scathing attack on the central government on Wednesday over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the election-ready state of Bihar. Venugopal alleged that the government is avoiding parliamentary discussion on the issue, questioning its motives behind the revisions.

In a show of opposition unity, several parties, including Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, have planned a joint march to the Election Commission's office on August 11, demanding transparency and answers. Venugopal claims the revisions disproportionately impact marginalized voters, putting their right to vote under threat.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju countered the allegations by stating that debates in Parliament must adhere to constitutional and procedural rules. Rijiju noted that the SIR matter is sub judice, asserting that discussions on topics under judicial consideration or related to the Election Commission's domain cannot be held within the House.
