Wang Yi's Crucial Border Talks in India: Paving the Way for Diplomacy

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit India for two days to engage in border talks with India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. The talks focus on addressing the border dispute along the Line of Actual Control. This visit precedes the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Tianjin.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set for a two-day visit to India starting Monday, marking the next phase in ongoing border negotiations with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, according to an announcement by the Indian foreign ministry on Saturday.

During this visit, Wang will participate in the 24th Special Representatives meeting focused on the China-India boundary issue. This dialogue aims to address the longstanding border dispute along the 3,488 km Line of Actual Control (LAC), with Wang and NSA Doval co-chairing the dialogue mechanism.

Wang's visit follows his 23rd round of talks with Doval in China last December, shortly after both nations' leaders decided to rejuvenate dialogue efforts. The visit is also slated ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit on August 31–September 1 in Tianjin, which Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend.
