In a bid to escalate efforts in freeing hostages held in Gaza, families have initiated a nationwide strike, prompting police in Israel to arrest more than two dozen people for 'disruption of order' on Sunday.
Though the majority of protests remained peaceful, authorities noted a few exceptions where demonstrators breached law and order guidelines, vowing a firm response against any public endangerment. The move comes as an increasing number of businesses, as well as theatres and restaurants, shutter their doors in solidarity with the cause.
Meanwhile, Israeli leadership is gearing up to launch a new offensive into Gaza City, escalating tensions further.
