European Leaders Weigh Additional Sanctions Amid Ukraine Conflict
European leaders are considering new sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase pressure to end the Ukraine conflict. The Coalition of the Willing discussed security guarantees for Ukraine and the potential deployment of a reassurance force. Talks were bolstered by U.S. support for Ukraine's security.
The British government announced that European leaders are mulling over additional sanctions to exert more pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin in hopes of ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
According to the British Prime Minister's office, the coalition, which refers to the Coalition of the Willing, convened virtually to discuss strategies. Planning teams from Europe are set to meet with their U.S. counterparts to further plans on providing security guarantees for Ukraine and potentially deploying a reassurance force if hostilities cease.
In another development, Ukraine received a boost of confidence as U.S. President Donald Trump assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of American support in safeguarding Ukraine's security amid negotiations to conclude the war instigated by Russia.
