Imran Khan Accuses Army Chief of Sabotaging Afghanistan Relations

Pakistan’s former prime minister, Imran Khan, accused Army Chief Asim Munir of deliberately damaging relations with Afghanistan. Khan, who has been jailed for over two years, claims this strategy aims to appease those opposing the current Afghan government and to position Munir favorably with Western allies.

Pakistan's former prime minister, Imran Khan, currently imprisoned, has indirectly blamed Army Chief Asim Munir for souring ties with Afghanistan. Khan alleges the military leadership's provocations are intentionally undermining relations to placate critics of Afghanistan's incumbent Taliban regime.

Khan argued that the "Munir regime" launched unwarranted threats against Afghanistan, later expelling longtime Afghan refugees from Pakistan. Meanwhile, operations initiated in tribal areas under a guise of combating terrorism have resulted in civilian casualties, he asserted.

Emphasizing peace through dialogue, Khan called for collaboration among Pakistan’s tribal regions, Afghan authority, and citizens, warning that military operations only heighten terrorism. He urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lawmakers to address provincial challenges swiftly and advocated seeking solutions through peaceful negotiations with Afghan allies.
