Cairo is playing a pivotal role in diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing Gaza conflict, according to Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. Speaking at the French Institute of International Relations, Abdelatty revealed that Egypt is collaborating with Qatar and Turkey to encourage Hamas to embrace U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed peace plan.

The White House's plan, presented as a 20-point document earlier this week, calls for an immediate ceasefire, a hostage exchange, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, disarmament of Hamas, and the establishment of a transitional government led by an international body. Despite supporting the plan's overarching goals, Abdelatty noted that further discussions are essential.

Abdelatty pointed out that the plan has several unresolved issues, notably in governance and security arrangements. "We are supportive of the Trump plan and the vision to end war. We need to move forward," he stated, underscoring the need for continued dialogue to fill the plan's gaps.
