Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma expressed confidence in the Zoram People's Movement's (ZPM) success in the forthcoming Dampa Assembly bypolls during a campaign launch in West Phaileng village, Mamit district. The bypoll is scheduled for November 11, and Lalduhoma noted the state's electoral history tends to favor the ruling party.

Lalduhoma asserted that opposition parties have seldom won previous bypolls, with victories occurring on only two occasions. The Chief Minister attributed the challenging situation in Dampa to the Congress and Mizo National Front (MNF), which have dominated the constituency for approximately 38 years.

Four other candidates have been nominated, including MNF's Dr. R Lalthangliana and Congress's John Rotluangliana. A total of 20,790 voters, with over 10,000 women, are registered for the election. Nomination scrutiny and withdrawal deadlines are set for this week, following the passing of MNF MLA Lalrintluanga Sailo.
