The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Congress of insincere tributes to former party president Sitaram Kesri, commemorated on his 25th death anniversary. The BJP alleged that these gestures by Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, are merely political ploys ahead of the Bihar elections.
Shehzad Poonawalla, BJP's national spokesperson, recalled Kesri's unceremonious removal as Congress president in 1998 to facilitate Sonia Gandhi's ascension. Poonawalla charged Congress with historical mistreatment of Kesri and other leaders from marginalized backgrounds, questioning Gandhi's sincerity towards Biharis and OBCs.
Amit Malviya, BJP's IT head, further condemned the Congress for exploiting its own leaders from disadvantaged sections. He criticized Rahul Gandhi's actions, labeling them as hypocritical political maneuvers to cover past wrongdoings, as Bihar polls approach, with voting scheduled for November 6 and 11.
