China's foreign ministry announced its openness to collaborating with the United States on fentanyl control measures following remarks by U.S. President Trump. Trump indicated a potential reduction in tariffs on Chinese goods in return for China's commitment to limit exports of fentanyl precursor chemicals.

On Wednesday, spokesperson Guo Jiakun highlighted China's stringent narcotics control policies. Guo urged the United States to take tangible steps to establish an environment conducive to mutual cooperation on this critical issue.

This development suggests a mutual interest in addressing the opioid crisis, which has severe implications for both nations, by threading the need for economic and health policy synergies.
