The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) staged a protest in Tamil Nadu on Monday, accusing the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls of being a scheme designed to deprive citizens of their rights.
The VCK, under the leadership of Thol Thirumavalavan, strongly criticized the Election Commission of India and the ruling BJP government, accusing them of attempting to disenfranchise Dalits and minorities through this process.
In his address, Thirumavalavan raised questions about the urgency of implementing the SIR in Tamil Nadu, which is preparing for elections, and suggested it was a calculated strategy by the BJP to undermine the voting rights of vulnerable communities.
