In a historic and private ceremony, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married his partner, Jodie Haydon, at his official residence, The Lodge, in Canberra.

This event marks the first time an Australian prime minister has married while in office in the government's 124-year history. Around 60 guests, including Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe and several cabinet ministers, witnessed the ceremony, which was officiated by a civil celebrant.

The nuptials came after careful consideration of timing, as a lavish celebration during an economic crisis was deemed potentially damaging to the ruling party's re-election prospects. Despite initial plans for a grander affair, the couple opted for a more intimate gathering.
