CPI(M) Fires Up Secularism Debate Amid Bengal's Political Tensions

CPI(M)'s West Bengal state secretary, Md Salim, launched a scathing attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing both parties of exploiting religion to create a divide among citizens.
Addressing a crowd of around 1,000 party supporters at Toofanganj in Cooch Behar district, Salim emphasized the need to unite against 'fascism' by supporting secular, democratic Left forces. He highlighted past efforts by the Left to counter communalism and advocated for unity amid polarizing politics.
Salim also criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for reportedly facilitating the BJP's entry in West Bengal. He claimed that the state has suffered in terms of law and order under the TMC's regime and called for the youth to strive towards a self-reliant Bengal.
