The Supreme Court has intervened in a controversial case, halting the reinstatement of a judicial officer whose conduct on a train had led to his dismissal. In 2018, the officer allegedly created a disturbing scene by urinating before a female co-passenger, among other indecent acts.
A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta deemed the actions of the civil judge 'disgusting' and issued a notice to both the judicial officer and the Madhya Pradesh government to respond to the petition challenging the High Court's previous order.
The officer, appointed in 2011, faced serious allegations, but was acquitted by a special railway magistrate due to the lack of supporting evidence. Despite his acquittal, the Supreme Court's decision has left his future in limbo as further legal scrutiny awaits.
