Pope Leo will travel to Lebanon on Sunday, where he is expected to appeal for peace amidst the ongoing Israeli airstrikes. This visit marks the second and final leg of his inaugural international trip since becoming the leader of the Catholic Church, with his previous stop in Turkey marking a stern condemnation of violence in the name of religion.

Scheduled to land at Beirut's Hariri International Airport at 3:45 p.m., Leo will meet with Lebanon's president and prime minister. He is to address national leaders in his second speech directed at a foreign government. Lebanon, which boasts the largest share of Christians in the Middle East, has been deeply impacted by the spillover of conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah.

The Pope's visit, encompassing five cities and towns, intends to bring hope to Lebanon's diverse communities and highlight the importance of peace in the region. His itinerary includes leading a mass on the Beirut waterfront and visiting a psychiatric hospital. Leo's trip is carefully watched as he navigates complex religious and political landscapes.
