West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sharply criticized the central government over suspected electoral roll manipulations following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Speaking at a public meeting, she claimed the SIR is creating unwarranted fear among residents set to vote in the upcoming assembly elections.
Banerjee further accused the BJP-led central government of withholding funds vital for the successful implementation of the 100-day work scheme, while imposing what she termed 'humiliating conditions.' The Chief Minister reiterated her state's resolve by launching its own scheme, 'Karmashree.'
Banerjee alleged that the electoral process and corresponding challenges are fashioned to allow elections without any legal hindrances. She sees this as a direct threat to Bengal's culture and heritage, calling the Centre's tactics both anarchic and autocratic.
